Dafna Bartle

Holistic Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Myofascial Release and Ear Candling

I have been working as a practitioner since 1997 and gained my qualifications through extensive multi-disciplinary programmes, both in the UK and abroad. I have practiced in a National Health Service environment and privately, and have had a practice in Lewes for over 20 years.

Over the years I have developed my own style of Holistic massage treatments, combining a variety of massage therapeutic techniques such as Myofascial release, Trigger points and Acupressure. My aim is to build a focused treatment plan with my clients and combine appropriate therapies to help relieve pain, increase range of motion, as well as relax, support and nourish the body and mind.

I have been practicing Clinical Reflexology since 1997. Since then I have attended many more hours of Reflexology tuition and gained further advanced technique qualifications. I use this experience, knowledge and passion in my treatment to help re balance, relieve pain, support the body’s own healing process and achieve deep relaxation. I am also a qualified Aromatherapist, Ear candling practitioner, Myofascial Release practitioner, and Baby massage instructor.

Since July 2018 I have been running a weekly senior women wellbeing support group at the Open door clinic.

I am a full member of the Complementary Therapists Association CThA.

My working Days at the Open Door are:

  • Mondays: 12.30am – 3pm

  • Thursdays: 10am – 3pm

  • Fridays: 10am – 4.30pm

  • Saturdays (twice a month): 10am - 3pm

Holistic Massage

In my Holistic massage treatment I combine a wide range of different massage techniques, such as Swedish, trigger point, Myofascial release and stretching. These help to bring relief from pains and aches, increase range of motion and promote a sense of safety in the body and mind.

The treatments can target specific complaints, such as back, shoulder and neck muscle tension, as well as help relieve headaches and other aches, pains and circulation problems.  The treatments can be supportive in long term conditions, such as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Parkinson’s disease. They can be beneficial as part of a recovery plan from trauma, injury, operation or a stroke.  Holistic massage is also simply a wonderful way to reduce stress and unwind as its looks to address and balance the person as a whole with benefits to the body, mind and spirit.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a powerful but gentle healing tool, utilising the medicinal and therapeutic properties of essential oils by direct absorption through the skin and inhalation. Used in conjunction with massage and reflexology, combinations of different oils are carefully chosen to suit each individual.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a gentle non intrusive and relaxing treatment based on the principle that the anatomy of our bodies is reflected through a system of reflex points and zones on our feet.

Reflexology promotes general health and wellbeing and can help to bring relief to a variety of complaints such as migraines, poor circulation, digestive issues, stress, anxiety and depression, reproductive health problems, symptoms of menopause, boosting fertility and many more.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is the soft tissue component of the connective tissue system. It forms a whole-body, continuous, three-dimensional matrix of structural support that interpenetrates and surrounds all organs, muscles, bones and nerve fibres.

The Fascia plays an important part in communicating and maintaining chronic pain and can be affected and restricted by Injury, trauma, surgery, inflammatory processes, poor posture and stress .

Myofascial Release is a hands-on treatment that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the connective tissue restrictions. The treatment can help to relieve pain, increase movement around a joint, restore motion, improve mobility and promote relaxation.

Ear Candling

The ancient therapy of ear candling is a non-invasive, relaxing treatment which last for up to 60 minutes and includes a short consultation, ear candling for both ears and a head and face massage to enhance the effect of the candles.  Unfortunately Ear Candling cannot be used in the following cases:

  • If the ear drum is perforated or in a healing process.

  • If a grommet or other drainage device is in place in the ear drum.

  • If the outer ear is infected or inflamed.

  • If antibiotics are being taken for an ear, nose or throat problem.

  • If severe dental work, such as root canal has left the jaw and face sore.

  • If a cochlear implant is fitted.

  • If a mastoidectomy operation has taken place.

Testimonials

“I saw Dafna at short notice when experiencing back pain that made it difficult to sit down. After a one hour session I am far more comfortable in my body. I felt the tension begin to release within 10 mins and it was the most relaxed I’ve felt since sitting on a debilitating Southern rail seat a week before. Daphna was calm and explained her approach. I felt confident and trusting although it was my first session with her.  I recommend Dafna for back pain release.”

“Dafna was wonderfully intuitive and had a lovely, gentle approach”

“Just had a wonderful massage with Dafna. Beautiful oils, just the right amount of pressure, and I felt well and truly served. Thank you. Go and have a treatment!”
